Existing life insurance

A question about your life policy?

Ask us about the coverage you already have. Start with your question and the policy records available.

Start with one question.

How long does the coverage last? What does a rider provide? What does a notice from the insurer mean? The question guides what we look at and which records are needed.

  1. Send a note

Describe the question and the records you have. Advisors can introduce a client; direct clients are welcome too.

  2. Clarify what is needed

We look at the available records and ask for additional information only where it could change the answer. Some questions need a carrier confirmation.

  3. Get an explanation and next steps

We explain the relevant findings by email, including what is still uncertain and who needs to follow up.

What to have ready

These are a starting point. The records needed depend on your question.

  • Your question

Tell us what prompted the review and what you want to understand. If an advisor is involved, include their relevant planning context.

  • The policy records you have

Start with a policy summary or the latest statement. You do not need to gather every document before asking for help.

  • Any notice or approaching deadline

Include a renewal, payment, lapse, or conversion notice if it relates to your question. Tell us the date at the outset.

For a question about permanent-policy funding or benefits, we may need the full contract, relevant riders, or a current in-force illustration. We will explain what is needed; the owner may need to request it from the insurer.

Start through the contact form. We will arrange the document handoff; do not paste policy numbers or medical records into the initial message.

An answer shaped by the question.

The usual follow-up is a short email explaining the relevant coverage details, questions for the carrier, and next steps. It may be enough to clarify a policy feature or confirm that no change is needed.

If the question calls for a detailed funding review or comparison with a new policy, we will discuss the scope and records needed before going further. Those are case-specific next steps.

Response and timing

Messages usually receive a reply the same business day. For a policy-review request, expect an initial response within two business days. Completing the work depends on the question, available records, and carrier responses.

For a payment, lapse, or conversion deadline, contact the insurer promptly. Asking for a review does not pause a policy deadline.

Compensation

Aligned Path is an independent insurance brokerage. There is no fee for the review, including when no policy change is needed. We also charge no separate brokerage, shopping, placement, or servicing fee on any line. Referring advisors earn no insurance commission.

If we place a policy, the carrier pays us a standard commission. Commissions vary by carrier and product, so that incentive belongs in the discussion if a replacement is recommended. Read the full compensation explanation or ask about compensation for a specific proposal.

Limits of the review

The answer depends on the records available. A policy summary may be enough for basic facts; specific contract questions may require the full policy or carrier confirmation. Illustrated values are projections under stated assumptions, not a promise of future performance.

Tax, trust, ownership, and estate questions may need your attorney or tax professional before a change. We provide general insurance guidance, not personalized legal, tax, or investment advice. Variable life policies need a securities professional. We do not offer variable life insurance or securities advice.
